US - BRP provided the water safety support for the recent Red Bull Flutag event with four Sea-Doo watercraft.
Twenty-seven teams from across the U.S. gathered to launch their homemade human-powered flying machines off the end of a 30-foot high ramp into the Tennessee River at Red Bull Flutag Nashville. “Flutag”, which means “Flying Day” in German, often sees its share of nosedives, but at the Nashville event a majority of the crafts truly got air and kept the crowd, estimated at over 80,000, cheering until the end.
In the end it was Kentucky’s Rocky Top Rocket team that set a new North American Red Bull Flutag record by flying 155 feet at Nashville’s Riverfront Park before the Sea-Doo watercraft mounted safety team pulled them from the water to the overwhelming cheers of the crowd.
The flying machines ranged in creative design from the 30-foot victorious flying banjo, an army tank, a sombrero, 20-foot long cigar, and a Rubik’s Cube.
