USA - Junior riders will be allowed to run more than one class during the 2006-2007 WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Championship Tour, which kicks off its 10-city tour Nov. 24-26 at the AMSOIL Duluth Championship at Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minn. The rule change will allow 120 CHAMPS riders to enter in the 300cc class, while 300cc class ricers will be eligible to run 10-13 Fan. Riders in the 14-15 class can run in the 16-17 class, and 16-17 class competitors will be allowed to race in the Sport Stock class.
The PowerSports Snowmobile Championship Tour is sanctioned by the World PowerSports Association, a unit of PowerSports Entertainment, Inc.
“We heard a great deal of feedback from our younger riders who wanted more track time during our Championship weekends,” said PowerSports Entertainment, Inc. CEO Rick Murphy. “These riders are the future of Snocross racing, and allowing them to compete in two classes per weekend doubles their amount of seat time. This gives young racers the experience crucial for them to move through the PowerSports Snowmobile Tour's ladder system.”
The Tour's Race Director will make the determination prior to race weekends and all drivers must submit a racing resume for review. The Race Director's decision will be based primarily on the rider's individual experience level.
